We are five women growing lavender on 5 different farms on
Vashon Island. A lovely rural island in Puget Sound, Vashon
is a short ferry
ride from Seattle, Washington. Meeting each other quite by
chance, we found mutual enthusiasm for (addiction to?)
lavender! Our group shares information and expertise in
cultivation of lavender and works together to promote Vashon
Island Lavender. This year we will host the 5th Annual
Vashon Island Lavender Harvest Celebration on July 7 and 8,
2007, from 10am to 5pm.
Our farms use organic methods, We grow and sell fresh cut lavender bunches, dried lavender bunches, loose lavender for sachets or culinary uses, and lavender plants propagated on our farms. Most of the lavender is sold as fresh cut bunches during July and early August, at Farmer's Markets and at the Annual Lavender Farm Tour on Vashon.
We grow more than 28 varieties on our farms, each cultivar having it's own special characteristics of bloom time, fragrance, color, stem length and oil content.
Come appreciate this wonderful plant!
